“On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand!”
When we accept Jesus as Our Lord and Savior, we commit to a life of following His example, God’s Word and Law, and obedience to it. It is a lifestyle that requires our all, our studying The Word, prayers, and the support of fellow Godly Christians, pastors and teachers to help us along our journey and keep us on the straight and narrow.
Our faith gets tested many times along the way by the devil, lusts of the flesh, backsliding, greed, selfishness and loyalty to the world, friends and family.
When we step outside of God’s Word we have opened ourselves up to the devil and his devilish plots and schemes. Or the sin we were delivered from with Jesus’ help.
Those who are saved and see their brother fallen into divers temptations are duty-bound to use The Word to help convict them and get them back in alignment with God’s Word, to pray for them and, if all else fails leave them at The Master’s feet for Him to deal with. Sometimes as people sink deeper into sin, compounding one sin with another, one lie after another to cover their first lie, we must separate ourselves from them to ensure they don’t pull us onto their sinking sand (or quicksand) that they find themselves surrounded by.
This may be the situation with your parents, children, siblings or spouse. Best friend, pastor or church elder. We are all subject to fall, but what matters is how we respond to our transgressions. Did you seek forgiveness from God and the one you transgressed against? Have you given God a true repentant heart? Did you try to reconcile with those whom you hurt and offended? Or just hardened your heart and walked away as if you were sinless in a vain effort to ignore your sin that is still a stench in God’s nostrils?
God gives us all a chance to repent, to correct ourselves, adjust our path, to seek forgiveness. Did you take advantage of God’s opportunity to cleanse your soul of your sins? Or have you sunken so deep into it, entwined in adulterous affairs, lies, deceit, and pursuits of the flesh, not the spirit to see who and what you have become?
Know this, God stands near with open arms to welcome back the prodigal son or daughter. But it is up to you to take the first step, just like when you took the initial steps towards the pastor’s call for salvation when you took his hand and gave your life to Jesus Christ.
The Day of Judgement is nearer than you think, take time to examine yourself, your heart and do an about face from the darkness of sin you now live in and turn to the light of God!
