Did you know that being able to control your tongue is a sign of Christian maturity?
We see from our Bible studies that God has a lot to say to us through Jesus Christ and His disciples about controlling our mouth and tongue. We know the power and impact that a wagging tongue can have over someone’s life. Words can heal or harm; speak life or death; uplift or decimate; glorify or demean; edify or destroy; bless or curse; guide or mislead; strengthen or weaken; love or hate and so much more! That is why it is important that we as His children guard our tongues and close our mouths before speaking or worse writing something that does not honor God, or demonstrate Love to others. We are so required by The Word!
Remember to always PRAY BEFORE you speak or write something. Think about why you are saying it or writing it BEFORE you speak or write. RE-READ what you are writing BEFORE you mail it or push ‘send’ to email it. And finally and most importantly, HOLD it up to the scrutiny of God’s Word. Why? Because The Bible tells us that God at Judgment Day will hold us ACCOUNTABLE for all our utterances (words)! If you’re like me, I already have more ill-spoken and ill-conceived words against me that I must answer for when my time comes beyond the thoughts I have had that did nothing to edify The Master. As the End Days draw near, let us all hit ‘pause’ before we say, do, or write words that hurt, are untruthful, cause anguish and pain but most of all dishonor The All-Knowing, All-Seeing God. He knows our truths. He knows what motivates us to act out of our flesh and vanity. Examine your heart always BEFORE we hurt Our Father, Loved ones and others. Make sure it passes THE WORD test first. Or else… “Bite Your Tongue!”
