Who is your Father? Who do you serve? Who do you follow? Whose life do you imitate?
Followers of Jesus Christ must do so in spirit AND in truth. Walking with God as your Father requires no less. It demands obedience. It requires that you speak the truth. It is a prerequisite that you turn away from sin, for sin is of Satan. It expects that you adhere to God’s Word, Godly instructions and God’s teachings as a member of The Body of Christ! It is assumed that when you fall into divers temptations, that you turn to The Rock (Jesus) and The Word for restoration AND that you stop committing your sins, seek forgiveness, truly repent, right the wrongs that sin led you to commit, ask God to renew a right spirit in you, and separate yourself from those who justified and encouraged you to sin against God, His Word and others.
Let us look at how God feels about those who lie and tell half of the truth in order to “win”, avoid punishment, gain favor among the ungodly, advance their own pursuits or desires, or obtain acceptance among the world and the false Christians and worldly people you associate with.
When one who “professes” to be saved and a Christian, but yet they engage in sin, deceit, lies, adultery and half truths, these people have abandoned their first Love (Christ Our Savior) and now have been adopted into another father’s realm…the sin realm of the devil!
John 8:44 teaches us that those who lie, tell half-truths and practice deceit, “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
When you speak lies, rather than the truth, your way is darkened by sin and you now walk with the father of all lies…Satan. When you surround yourself with people that encourage you to tell lies, you shed the blood of the innocent.
God abhors lying lips. Proverbs 12:22 tells us that “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.”
God advises us in Ephesians to “Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another,” Eph.4:25 and God further instructs us to “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ,” Eph.4:15
Our God is an omnipresent God, that means He is everywhere at one time. He sees all, knows all, hears all AND knows what is in the hearts of man. He would not have you to be misled or deceived by the devil, which is why we, who are His, must abstain from people, situations, desires, selfish pleasures that would lead us astray and into sin. Proverbs 28:13 teaches us “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”
The last Book of The Bible, Revelations, tells us of what is to come when Jesus Christ returns. Take heed to this verse “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
God would not have us to walk in darkness, so He gave us His Word as our Light to guide us. If anyone of you is offended by this message meditate on this verse from Galatians 4:16, “Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?”
Let me leave you with these Words, 1 John 1:16 “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” And Colossians 3:9-10 warns us “Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” Remember Proverbs 14:25, “A truthful witness saves lives, but one who breathes out lies is deceitful.”
Finally my brethren, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.
In this Season of Advent as we prepare to celebrate Our Savior’s birth, let us all examine our hearts, our words, our actions and stop and repent of whatever
is not in alignment with God’s Word for our very souls hang in the balance. Continuing in sin means your father is Satan! Choosing to follow God’s Word and His Law, preserves your place in eternity and says sincerely that God is your Father!
May this post be a blessing to you! May it enlighten you and illuminate your path. May it strengthen your resolve to do it God’s way and not the world’s. Amen 🙏🏽
