We Plant Not For Ourselves, But For The Kingdom

Train a child up in the way of The Lord and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

You are your child’s first teacher of the goodness of The Lord and His sacrifice for us. We are the farmers planting the seeds of God’s Word to one day reap a harvest for The Kingdom of God!

I remember when my son was growing up we had a tradition, a morning routine. First, it was our prayer of thanksgiving for being allowed to see a new day upon waking. Then, a prayer of gratefulness for a roof over our heads, food to eat, heat, lights, a sound mind, and family and friends who shared our faith. Finally, before we left our home, a prayer for protection while out and about amongst the world.

There were times when my mind would be racing with thoughts about that 8am meeting, the weather and how the traffic would be backed up or my 1.5 hour commute each way, had I forgotten anything, aftercare for my son if needed. Was everything ready and other thoughts of the day ahead. On those days, after breakfast I would be rushing my son to “hurry up, let’s go!” And God would use him to slow me down by saying, “mommie, we can’t leave until we pray the prayer of protection!”

Training your child to be a blessing to God’s Kingdom is both our responsibility and our gift of thanksgiving back to God for allowing us the great honor of being caretakers of His children but for a short time. Model God’s Love in all you do because they are sponges who don’t miss a thing and are constantly watching your actions and how you treat others. You are their template. Remember that! They may stray, but they won’t depart. Amen 🙏🏽
