“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” ~ Mark 10:9
My husband and I have been married for a few years now. It was his second, my first. We bonded over shared beliefs and Christian fellowship that wove what I thought was an impenetrable bond grounded in our mutual faith and Biblical foundation. Little did I know how busy Satan is when it comes to the union of marriage and the people the devil uses, that you would least expect, to tear it asunder. Most disappointing is when it is other Christians.
“What God has joined together, let no man (or woman) put asunder!”
In reading this Scripture, while battling demonic forces attacking my marriage, God revealed to me that this scripture and the word, asunder, is a warning, or rather it was revealed to me spiritually — a threat from God — a red flag to marriage interlopers, adulterers and adulteresses, how holy God views the sanctity of marriage, the marriage Covenant, the marriage vows and the blessings God proclaims over the marriage Union. Those who work to tear it down, tear it apart, create dissension, and confusion with the ultimate goal of causing a break, a separation or the final blow of a divorce, are cursed by God for “putting the marriage asunder!” It’s Biblical. It’s God’s Word, not man’s which makes it all the more incredulous that someone would challenge God and God’s Word with such wanton disobedience, violations and sinful acts against Our Heavenly Father. Especially those who profess to be followers and believers of The Gospel and saved by the Blood of the Lamb!!!
Asunder means to drive apart, to divide or break into pieces. It is the opposite of join together, unify or make as one, which is what a married couple is supposed to be…ONE in God’s eyes for He joined two into one.
Toying with God by willfully being disobedient to His Word, ignoring it, parsing what you will subscribe to in scripture and what you choose to ignore or violate is sin and sin has very severe consequences, just meditate on Mark 10:9 before you act against God’s directives.
The threat/warning is clear. Disobedience has direct consequences, just remember Lot’s wife. Pray, before you act! God’s Word is true. It is not unclear, ambivalent or untrue. Test NOT your Father in Heaven.
Luke 4:12 ~ “Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'”
Matthew 4:7 ~ “Jesus said unto him, It is written again,Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.“
Proverbs 22:3 “A shrewd person sees danger and hides himself, but the naive keep right on going and suffer for it.”
1 Corinthians 10:9 “We should not test Christ, as some of them did and were killed by snakes.“
Going against God is a battle you WILL lose. It is SIN! And exposes one as having no real faith in God’s ability to do the impossible and is turning your back on Him and His Word, even if for a moment, or for a single situation for in doing so you have failed God and Jesus miserably and no amount of wailing, crying out to God, fasting and praying can erase your deliberate and willful disobedience. God is not mocked!
Father God we come to you in prayer and supplication to You and Your life-giving Word that feeds, sustains, quenches and guides our path as we seek to be more like Christ. God correct us swiftly with your punishment if we willfully step afoul of Your commandments, Your Word, Your directives, Your warnings and threats. Remove us from the demonic influencers, the living situations, the satanic whisperers, the adulterous people who seek to lead us towards unGodliness and Hell. Who drive us to act against Your Word or who charge us to put our marriages asunder for none of them, no not one, truly knows You as their Lord and Savior. We pray it all in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name, Amen
