For God So Loved The World, That He Gave His Only Begotten Son
Focus Scripture: Matthew 21:28-32; Luke 6:46 and Isaiah 5:1-7
The keeping of our word, our covenant with God, Our promises, our vows is one of the most powerful gifts of obedience to God we can offer.
What if God had not kept His Word to us, foretold in the Book of Isaiah of the coming of Our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ, The Sacrificial Lamb of God who take th away the sins of the world!?
What if God lied or made the lame and worthless excuses we make when we break Covenant, go back on our word, our marriage vows, our promises?! Ever think about that? We would be given the judgment we deserve of eternal death and Hell!
But thankfully God, unlike man, kept His Word, keeps His Word and His Word is the same yesterday as it is today and for all eternity. Why then are we incapable of the same? Of honoring our vows, our promises, our Covenants, our pledges, our word???!!!
Is it for lack of sincerity? Yes!
Is it for fear of isolation/rebuke/ostracism/disenfranchisement? Yes!
Does greed motivate us? Yes!
Fear or poverty or job loss stimulate us? Yes!
Do threats of violence motivate us? Yes!
Do we waffle between the world and The Word? Yes!
Are we weak-minded and immature Christians? Yes!
Do we pick what scriptures we will adhere to and follow and those we purposefully won’t follow, when we willfully sin, rely on God’s mercy, as we re-crucify Christ, to forgive us so that we can “get off scot-free” from our willful disobedience? Yes!
Do we forget the great gift we undeservedly received of Jesus, His ministry of reconciliation and salvation in order to commit our sins, and then cry out ABBA Father, AFTER we sinned against God, Jesus and others like impetuous children? Yes!
Does our word not matter? Yes! For if it truly did how could we be so wreckless with it, with flirting with the rebuke and punishment of God for lying to Him and others when we break or go back on our word?
What if God was as fickle as us?
What if God never sent Jesus or His Holy Spirit to save us, FROM us?
What if God broke His Word as much and as frequently as us?
We break God’s heart and grieve Him with each broken vow, each broken promise, each broken Covenant, each broken Word, each disobedient and disrespectful act we conceive in our hearts, and that we fulfill with actions and or words!
God cries as we has to painfully watch us sin against or break Covenant, promises or vows with Him, our spouses, children, family, friends and coworkers.
Each time we sin by omission or commission, the Holy Spirit In us DIES off in fragments and pieces.
You see God’s spirit cannot dwell where we have given sin/Satan residence, and when we open the door to evil, it gleefully comes in.
Breaking our word, promises, vows and Covenant with God and others is an open door policy to Satan and sin!
Brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ, the living embodiment of God’s Word, God’s promises kept and fulfilled, and God’s Covenant to us, let us KEEP The Word of God and truly live it, not play with it!!!
Let our word be our bond and our bond be our word, no matter the cost. No matter who turns from us. No matter the consequences, not even death should dissuade us from doing what is RIGHT in the sight of The Lord!
What if Jesus, when facing His death on the cross, broke His Word to Our Father and ran away from being the blood sacrifice for our sins? Not His own, but ours? Where would we be?
Life is but a flicker. None of us knows when our time here will end! I was woefully reminded of this on December 14 at hearing the news that my son’s friend at the young age of 19 was called Home!
Let us all reflect on that and on how we choose to live and repay the gift of salvation!
Let us all strive with the commitment of Jesus Christ to keep our Covenant with God, no matter the cost!
Lord be quick with Your correction or send a saint to warn us with Your Word when we begin to sin or think it in our hearts or put wicked disobedience into motion! Remind us of our promises, our vows and our word we pledged to You, in Jesus Christ I pray, Amen 🙏🏽 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
It is NEVER too late to turn away from committing sin and from repenting and seeking forgiveness, redemption, reconciliation and restoration. NEVER!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
